Czech Philharmonic Children's Choir wins the prestigious Certamen Coral de Tolosa competition, Spain

The choir left for the prestigious competition in Spain's Basque country in the last week of October, under the leadership of choirmaster Petr Louženský, and performed several concerts in Basque towns, always to a rapturous reception. The choir's stay in the Basque country reached its climax on November 2nd with the winning of the competition, coming ahead of a Russian choir in second place and a Catalan choir in third place.

A total of 14 choirs took part in the competition, of which seven were in the children's category. The victory is all the more valuable because the choir was judged by an international jury, composed of several internationally-recognized experts.

The Czech Philharmonic Children's Choir is the only choir in the world to have won the competition three times, each time it has taken part: for the first time in 1998, and then again in 2008. This victory shows how successful the choir is at working long-term with children in the field of choral singing.
